Miss Dews

All About Me...

My name is Miss Dews. I’ve been a teacher full time at Collierley for nine years but I also taught here before that and attended the school as a child! I have lived in the village all my life and cannot imagine working or living anywhere else; I love it here!

My Story

This is my first school photograph when I was in Reception with Miss Murray many years ago! We did not have a school uniform then.

My favourite place to visit is the Lake District. I love the Beatrix Potter stories and enjoy learning about Beatrix Potter’s life in the tiny village of Near Sawrey. This photograph was taken at one of her houses called Hill Top.

My favourite subjects to teach are Maths and Music. I love to play the piano and I enjoy playing for special occasions such as Christmas performances and the Christingle Service.

I enjoy singing too. A few years ago I went to the Royal Albert Hall in London to sing with a big choir and I used to be a member of the Northern Sinfonia Chorus. In the last few years I have developed an interest in painting and art journaling. I still need some practise but it is very relaxing.

My garden is an ongoing project which takes a lot of time but when the work is done I enjoy sitting in my garden and just watching the magnificent view over the valley.
