Childcare Provision

Primary Schools are now required to publish alongside their Performance information a list of their childcare provision making it easier for parents to know what is available.

Collierley Primary offers a full range of childcare provision which we have listed below:

Our Nursery

Welcome to Collierley Primary School Nursery which is part of our Early Years Unit.

Sessions – we offer four session options:

  • 5 mornings

  • 5 afternoons

  • 2 and a half days – all day Monday, all day Tuesday, Wednesday morning

  • 2 and a half days – Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday, all day Friday

  • Morning session: 8.45am-11.45am

  • Afternoon session: 12.15pm-3.15pm

We have a maximum of 26 children per session. We take children from 3 years old.

Our Nursery Day

We begin each day with dancing and music followed by a story. After story we have a phonics session, following the Letters & Sounds scheme. Next we go to our Key Groups and look at our names, talk about the days of the week and the weather, and talk with our Key Worker. Then we have free choice with adult led and focused activities, both indoors and outdoors. At the end of our session we have a snack followed by Dough Disco and Paint a Person. In the afternoon session we have snack time before Dough Disco.

The children who stay for full day sessions have lunch in the Out of Hours room. They can either bring packed lunch or have a school dinner at a cost of £2.41 per day.

30 Hours Free Childcare

September 2017 saw the introduction of 30 hours free childcare for nursery aged children in eligible families. At Collierley we offer 30 hours over 5 days between 8.45/9.00am and 3.00/3.15pm, including lunch and allowing for our flexible dropping off and collection times.

We offer a maximum of thirteen 30 hour places, in addition to twenty six universal 15 hour places. The minimum number of hours we offer is 15 per child. This is to ensure full coverage of the EYFS curriculum and that children receive their full educational entitlement.

Fifteen hour places can be chosen from one of our four options (see above) and remain dependent on availability.

Parents should check their eligibility online at the Childcare Choices website: http://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk and they will then be directed to the digital childcare service to apply. They will be given an eligibility code which should be entered onto a form available from the school and returned to the office so that relevant checks can be made. This form includes consent for school to carry out the eligibility check.
