Head Teacher's Full Message

Welcome to
Collierley Nursery and Primary School

We hope you find this website useful, interesting and informative. Its purpose is to give you a flavour of daily life at Collierley, keep you informed of upcoming events and share with you the highlights of past events.  We have three school rules:

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Ready.

Our aims are simple: We want all children to have the best possible start in life. We want all children to not only feel safe and cared for at school, but also to enjoy learning! We are very proud of our school, its rich heritage and its spectacular site. We are positioned on the top of the Dipton hill, with spacious grounds that stretch down the beautiful historic Pont Valley. Because of this, we endeavour to make the most of our great grounds and aim for high levels of engagement with the outdoors. We are always looking for ways to improve and we have plans to further develop the fantastic grounds to further enhance the curriculum for all of our children. We aim through our curriculum for the children to be: ambitious, connected and active.

As a small school, we seek to operate as a big ‘family’, where each child is important and where they feel not only part of the school, but also part of the wider community.  We are all dedicated to ensuring that the school has a friendly, caring atmosphere to help each child have an outstanding primary education. Ensuring that we are very much a ‘Village School’ and that children are given every opportunity to achieve and excel.

The children’s perspective of our school:

From my point of view, I believe Collierley Primary School is a safe place for every child. It’s a fun and positive environment for children to learn and push themselves out of their comfort zones. Also, the playground is a great place to learn and play with a wide variety of places to explore and make new friends. My favourite place on the playground is the football pitch and I love it when we go down on the field every Friday. I would recommend this school to anyone because it’s just amazing and the office staff and the head teacher along with the class teachers are lovely and take good care of you. Overall, Collierley Primary is a fantastic place to be.

Collierley is really safe and fun place to be. Whether you are in class or outside at break times, there is always something fun to do. My favourite thing is OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) because it is included with break time and I love break times; on the yard I basically only play football! The school trips are also amazing the best school trip in my opinion was Howtown, we got to climb waterfalls and we even got to climb a mountain!
