Head Pupils at Collierley Nursery and Primary School
At Collierley Nursery and Primary School, our Head Pupils are role models who represent the voice of our children and help lead our school community.
Each year, pupils in Year 6 have the opportunity to apply for the role of Head Pupil. The selection process includes writing an application, sharing ideas for improving the school, and demonstrating the qualities of leadership, responsibility and kindness.
Head Pupils are elected through a whole school election process - this is real life democracy in action.
What Do Head Pupils Do?
Our Head Pupils play an important role in school life. They help to:
-
Welcome visitors to the school
-
Represent pupils at special events and celebrations
-
Support younger children and act as positive role models
-
Share pupil ideas with staff and help improve our school
-
Speak at school events such as assemblies and celebrations
-
Work with school leaders on projects that benefit the whole school
Developing Leadership
Being a Head Pupil is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop confidence, responsibility and leadership skills. They learn how to represent others, communicate ideas and take pride in their school.
The role helps prepare pupils for the next stage of their education and encourages them to become active, responsible members of their community.

Alfie’s speech
Hi,
I’m Alfie. Most of you will know me. As a pupil I know how scary school can been and I’ve struggled myself, which has affected my school life. I know how anxious I was and sometimes how lonely it can feel in that position.
This year, I am going to be the best version of myself! I am standing for head boy, because I believe in myself and every one of you. As a whole school we will look out for each other.
Vote for me as a head pupil.
